ABDO College

Optical Courses and Qualifications

What are your plans for your business this year? If you want to maintain a competitive edge you’ll need to think about developing your team. This is a cost-effective way to extend your offering and improve staff job satisfaction. There are some great opportunities for all the team in the courses offered by ABDO College.

Start with the Optical Assistant course for a great introduction to optics, as well as an ideal way to formalise knowledge gained in practice.

Staff can move on to the Senior Optical Assistant course to develop and grow their knowledge and broaden what they can offer to patients.

In addition, do you have someone in your practice who would benefit from the well-known SMC Tech Optical Technician courses awarded by WCSM, including a Fast Track option for those who are FBDO qualified?

If you have a member of staff who is keen to start the FBDO qualification, ABDO College can help. If maths, English, science or basic optics is an issue, the College has a range of Access courses: the Optical Assistant course is also designed to help those without the required GCSEs acquire the knowledge they need to start the Ophthalmic Dispensing course

Staff ready to undertake the FBDO qualification, can choose from two different courses, the three-year FBDO Diploma or the Degree* qualification with FBDO. (*in conjunction with Canterbury Christ Church University)

If you or one of your team is a qualified FBDO there are more great choices for your next step. Further development is possible in Contact Lenses, Low Vision and Fast Track to SMC (Tech).
