Fiona Anderson became the new ABDO president during a presidential handover ceremony at the 2016 ABDO gala dinner held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Sunday 10 April.

Fiona thanked outgoing president, Peter Black, for his dedication and hard work during the three years that he held the post and then handed-over the vice presidency to Clive Marchant.

During a moving speech overviewing his time as president, Peter Black announced that he would not be seeking to stand for re-election in the forthcoming ABDO board election, however as immediate past president he will duly become an advisor to the board for a period of two years.

In her inaugural address Fiona Anderson also outlined the challenges ahead and mentioned the welcoming support and strength of ‘the ABDO family’.

Special awards were also presented at the gala dinner with Life Membership being awarded to Kevin Milsom, Huntly Taylor and Paula Stevens. Thurailingam Pavanakumar was awarded Honorary Fellowship by Peter Black and Gil Smith was awarded The Hamblin Memorial Prize by Eddie Watson of Boots Opticians.
