Lone working guidance: keeping providers and patients safe

The Optical Confederation and College of Optometrists have revised their lone working guidance for domiciliary providers. The guidance, first published in 2009 has been amended to reflect the changes in the NHS structure and other related guidance published since then.

Lone working carries a risk for which both employers and staff share responsibility. This guidance is intended to sit alongside the employers Health & Safety procedures. It outlines how to identify risks in the domiciliary setting and what actions to take to minimise them in order  to keep both the patient and provider safe at all times.
