The Association of British Dispensing Opticians represents and promotes the interests of all its members in Parliament, the Government and the devolved institutions in the UK.

We respond to consultations from the Department of Health, NICE and other bodies. We also provide briefings for Parliamentarians, give evidence to select committees and support the All Party Parliamentary Group on Eye Health.

Wherever we can, we work together with other organisations to lobby for legislative changes that will benefit patients. We work closely with the Association of Optometrists, the Federation of Ophthalmic & Dispensing Opticians and the College of Optometrists to represent the sector’s views to Parliament and other stakeholders.

In 2006 the Association of British Dispensing Opticians was a founding member of the Eye Health Alliance – a coalition of the optical bodies and eye care charities who work together to promote eye health for all.
