The GOC is hosting five consultation events around the UK to hear feedback on its revalidation proposals.

Revalidation for dispensing opticians and optometrists will be introduced in January 2013. The scheme will be fair, effective and proportionate and the GOC is inviting those who will be affected by the scheme to help shape its development.

The events will be independently facilitated and will take place from 10:00 - 15:45 on the following dates:

• 8 February, Wales Millennium Centre, Bute Place, Cardiff
• 10 February, Britannia Hotel, Portland Street, Manchester
• 16 February, Park Crescent Conference Centre, 229 Great Portland Street, London
• 18 February, Caledonian Hilton Hotel, Princes Street, Edinburgh
• 19 February, Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, 73 University St, Belfast

The morning session will look at and discuss the different levels of risk in optics and the afternoon session at whether employers’ appraisals can be used in revalidation. Delegates are welcome to attend either or both parts of the day.
