Press release: ABDO’s NRC launches sustainability policy

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians’ National Resource Centre (ABDO’s NRC) has launched its sustainability policy and strategy to become more sustainable.

In the coming year, the NRC team commits to:

  • completing the ABDO Sustainability Self Assessment and updating it six monthly and sharing progress.
  • ensuring the supply chain has responsible ethical and social responsibility for the provenance of our products.

Beyond this, staff and visitors to the NRC are encouraged to demonstrate an active interest in and concern for sustainability and the natural environment. The NRC aims to inspire staff and visitors to recognise their role in safeguarding the future of the planet.

The way the NRC workplace is managed and maintained should provide an example to staff and visitors of how to respect and care for the environment sustainably. Wherever possible staff and visitors should be encouraged and expected to adopt sustainable practices.

The NRC manager and sustainability champion will aim to enable staff and visitors to understand and respect their environment.

Rebecca Jasper, NRC sustainability champion says, “It’s exciting to be the sustainability champion here at the NRC and to lead change within the team to help actively reduce our impact on the environment. Right now, we are encouraging all our visitors to be green. We already have a lot of sustainable resources in place, and I am always looking for ways to improve what we offer.”
