Press Release: How can manufacturing become more sustainable? Find out at the SEE Summit

Sustainability in manufacture of frames, lenses and accessories is key to more eco-friendly optical practice – but what do manufacturers need to do?  Book your place at the inaugural SEE Summit on the Environment on 4 October 2021 and you can hear from James Conway, Millmead Optical Group CEO James Conway and a champion of sustainability.

The group has worked to reduce its environmental impact in the office, the production line and the product distribution, supporting Millmead’s overall mission to continuously find more efficient ways to improve the impact the business and industry may have on the environment. James says, “Our sustainability efforts are a journey, not a destination, and I will share how that journey can be navigated at the SEE Summit.” James will discuss some exciting projects in the pipeline and how sustainability should be at the forefront of everyone’s business operations.

The SEE Summit aims to promote environmental sustainability in the UK optical sector and contribute to the government’s goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It takes place in the run-up to the COP (Conference of the Parties) climate change summit in November 2021. The event is supported by the OSA and FODO as well as a host of other optical organisations. (See note 3)

Running from 7-8.30pm, the event offers a packed agenda with inspiring speakers talking about how they have moved towards environmental sustainability in practice and in manufacturing. Attendees will also receive practical advice on the changes that can be made at work.
