Press release: New management workshops address change and conflict

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) is offering two new management workshops to all in the optical community. The workshops, on Change Management and on Conflict Management, have been created in response to feedback on ABDO’s popular Management and Leadership training.

Nick Walsh, ABDO’s Head of Corporate Development says, “Twenty first century leaders and managers need a higher level of skill and new competencies. Your learning will be in the form of knowledge and skill acquisition where transfer of your learning will help you improve your performance both personally and on a work front. We want you to build on your previous learning from experience, and to learn what will help and what will hinder as you tackle current and future challenges. You’ll view issues in new ways and embrace different skills and behaviours for positive business outcomes as well as personal development. And don’t worry, there’s no role-play!”

This workshop will be facilitated by expert tutors. The days will consist of a series of sessions with teaching, group work and lots of opportunities to delve into real challenges and look at how the theory is applied to the workplace. Drinks and lunch are provided.

The Change Management Workshop includes sessions on:

  • What is change in the workplace?
  • Supporting individuals and teams through change.
  • Implementing and monitoring change in the workplace.

The Conflict Management Workshop includes sessions on:

  • Types and causes of conflict within organisations.
  • Impact of conflict on organisational performance.
  • Processes for investigating conflict situations in the workplace.
  • Knowledge, skills and behaviours required to manage conflict effectively.
  • Stages in dealing with conflict.
