ABDO announces new Chief Examiner for Contact Lenses

Dean Dunning has been appointed to take over from Rosemary Bailey as Chief Examiner for Contact Lens from February 2020.

Dean is an ABDO Contact Lens examiner for theory and practical with 22 years’ experience in the optical industry. He is also Programme Leader in contact lenses at Bradford College, a member of the BCLA, the British Universities Committee of Contact Lens Educators and the International Association of Contact Lens Educators.

Dead says, “The introduction of extended services for Contact Lens Opticians, along with the General Optical Council strategic educational review make this a really exciting time to train as a Contact Lens Optician. I am really looking forward to my role in helping to maintain and develop high quality Contact Lens qualifications. The opening of the National Resource Centre later this year will ensure that ABDO are at the forefront of training and assessment as the role of the Contact Lens Optician evolves.”

                                                                         

Dean will be shadowing Rosemary Bailey over the next four examination sessions to ensure a smooth transition.
