She said: “The BCLA has played an important role throughout my professional journey. I look forward to serving as chair during our 50th anniversary year.
“By working alongside my fellow trustees, our CEO, the BCLA team, and the wider BCLA community, I hope to continue building on the work of all those who came before us.”
The AGM also saw the election of three new members to the BCLA council, with Dr Keyur Patel, Sònia Travé-Huarte and Devan Lakhani joining the team.
BCLA chief executive, Brad Parkes, said: “Manbir’s appointment as chair marks an exciting new chapter for the BCLA as we enter our 50th anniversary year. Her depth of experience, passion for education and commitment to advancing patient care make her ideally placed to lead the Association as we look ahead to the future.”
After thanking outgoing chair Dave Webley, Brad added: “We are delighted to welcome Keyur, Sònia and Devan to council. Their enthusiasm and commitment to the profession will be invaluable as we continue to support our members and champion excellence in contact lens practice and transform the BCLA.”
