High Street NHS providers open letter to the Government and Opposition and ask them to ‘fix broken Bill’

In an open message to Minister Margot James, copied to all opposition opposite numbers, the Optical Confederation, BDA, National Pharmacy Association and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee have called for simple amendments to be tabled as the Data Protection Bill makes its way through Parliament.

This is in follow up to a letter sent in February calling for the Govt to amend the Bill to exempt primary care providers from the Bills definition of ‘public authority’, to exempt them from having to appoint a Data Protection Officer purely by virtue of falling within that definition. The Govt have not listened to concerns, so another letter has been sent.
