IT refresh for all optometric practices across Wales

A new project is underway to connect community optometry practices in Wales to the NHS Wales IT network.

The project is funded by Welsh Government and is being managed by the NHS Wales Informatics Service. The project will give each practice a one-off IT allowance of £500 to invest in appropriate IT infrastructure that will provide access to the NHS Wales network and a NHS email account. For practices unable to purchase or upgrade hardware, software and broadband services within the £500 budget, supplementary funding is available.

To apply for supplementary funding:

  • Complete the application and declaration
  • Provide all relevant information including quotes
  • Return by fax to 01495 332379
  • Scan and return via email to OptomICT@wales.nhs.uk

The closing date for completed applications is 15 December 2014.

Practices are asked to read carefully the eligibility criteria, the requirements and obligations set by the De Minimis Regulations and ensure the case for funding is comprehensive and supported by the required evidence.

Each application will be considered by an impartial panel. Each applicant will be notified of the outcome in writing by the end of January 2015.
