The Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) has today clarified that support for continuing professional development (CPD) is part of General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) fees and grants negotiations with the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) – previously NHS England.
The OFNC stated: “No proposals have been made to change CPD arrangements. However, the arrangements for 2025/26 remain subject to ministerial decision, as part of the current negotiations.”
Dr Peter Hampson, OFNC chair, commented: “Negotiations are taking longer this year for a number of reasons, but both DHSC and OFNC recognise the importance of CPD support for the sector and will provide an update as soon as negotiations have concluded.”
