Optical suppliers have raised more than £10,000 for the charity Fight for Sight after a joint summer members’ event.

The two-day occasion saw fundraising, networking and industry collaboration, bringing together Optical Suppliers Association (OSA) members and regular supporters of the charity for a programme of sporting, business and networking activities.

OSA chair, James Conway, said: “Our first joint event with Fight for Sight exceeded expectations. It brought together suppliers from across the industry in a relaxed environment that encouraged networking, collaboration and the sharing of ideas, whilst supporting an incredibly important charity.

“The feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive, and there was a real sense that this should become a regular fixture in the optical calendar.”

Debbie White, chair of the Warwickshire Fight for Sight Committee, added: “It was such a fantastic day and incredibly heartwarming to see so many teams come together, especially those joining us through our merger with the OSA.

“Living with sight loss myself, I know how important research is in giving hope to future generations. Every conversation, every donation and every team taking part has helped raise awareness and vital funds that will make a real difference. I can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity and support”.
