ABDO awards recognise distinguished members who have gone above and beyond in their dedication and service to the profession and Association. The awards are for significant and impactful engagement, and longevity in the profession is not on its own sufficient to be considered for an award.
Members are invited to nominate colleagues for the following awards:
Life Membership: Awarded to distinguished members who have given significant service to the Association over many years. Typical recipients have volunteered in influential capacities and represented the Association on internal and external committees.
Medal of Excellence: For members who have given outstanding service to the Association. This might be through the organisation of local events, representation on local optical committees, or other impactful contributions that have made a difference to the profession.
Honorary Fellowship: Awarded to non-dispensing opticians, this award acknowledges individuals who have consistently supported the Association and played a pivotal role in promoting the role of dispensing opticians.
The ABDO Awards Committee carefully reviews all nominations before presenting their recommendations to the ABDO Board for approval. Please ensure nominations are reflective of the awards’ significance and are accompanied by detailed information highlighting the nominee’s unique contributions.
The closing date for nominations to be considered this year is 27 November 2023.
Please send nominations to Jane Burnand by email jburnand@abdo.or.uk
