White optics going green

In a new initiative, White Optics is going green with their Green Planet range of spectacles for adults and children.

The frames are made to comply with the GRS 4.0 Certificate (Global Recycled Standard) from 100% recycled single use plastic. Typical single use plastics recycled to make the frame material include water bottles, plastic caps and food containers. These are made into PCTG (a member of polyester family). The material shows heat resistance and transparency. It is processable yet tough and impact, weather and UV resistant.

The dummy lenses in Green Planet frames are made from 100% recycled plastics, and the frame case is made from plant-based fibres.

Dirctor Les Johnson says, “We are doing our bit to save our planet via this innovative range of optical frames. Our aim is to provide affordable recycled products to our customers with a simple but effective story that actually does help save our planet.” The frames are aimed at the budget customer for both kids and adult frames filling a much needed gap in the market. Les says, “We think that by providing an affordable product our customers will sell more frames rather than delivering a more complicated and expensive alternative.”
