Careers in Eyecare campaign kicks off

Anyone interested in a career in eyecare has a new source of information as ABDO kicks off its Careers in Eyecare social media campaign.

Designed to reach out to students, parents and careers advisers, the campaign highlights career information from a range of professional bodies and careers advice sites.

ABDO head of communications, Antonia Chitty, said: “There are many different careers in eyecare, and this campaign aims to link young people in search of work, along with anyone looking to change career, so they can find good information.

“We know that youth unemployment has risen over recent months. Young people may also have been affected by exam disruption. We hope that this new source of information will help.

ABDO has been working with Youth Employment UK throughout 2020 to update and develop the information about eyecare careers on its site. The Youth Employment UK site now features a Careers in Eyecare Hub with profiles for careers as a dispensing optician, optical assistant and lab technician. More career profiles are in the pipeline too.

Anyone looking for careers information and inspiration can now find it on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Antonia added: “Please like, follow and share. We will have more original content coming up over the next year.”
