Events demonstrated “appetite for high-quality, practical learning” said Specsavers’ Grant Duncan
Dispensing excellence was a central feature of Specsavers’ 2026 MiniPAC programme, which concluded earlier this month at the Leonardo Tower Bridge Hotel, where nearly 400 attendees gathered for the largest event in the programme’s history.
The programme began in Exeter in March and ran across 10 events, bringing together dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians and optometrists, for lectures, peer discussions and hands-on workshops. More than 20,000 CPD points were achieved by some 1,600 Spescavers clinicians in total.
“The MiniPAC series is just one example of Specsavers’ commitment to continuing professional development for our clinicians,” said Grant Duncan, director of professional development at Specsavers.
“A consistent theme was the development of ‘trusted experts’, encouraging confidence in clinical decision-making and a strong focus on evidence-based, patient-centred care.”
Clinical sessions explored glaucoma detection, monitoring and referral refinement, reflecting the growing role of community practice in managing long-term conditions and supporting shared care pathways. Dispensing excellence remained a central feature throughout the programme.
Exhibition spaces showcased innovations from industry partners, supporting clinicians with insight into new technologies and approaches to patient care.
Grant added: “The strength of MiniPAC lies in its blend of learning, collaboration and real-world application, helping clinicians deliver better outcomes for patients.
“I also want to congratulate everyone who took part in the series. Well done for gaining more than 20,000 CPD points. It’s an incredible achievement and a real testament to the appetite for high-quality, practical learning.”
