100% announces further CPD sessions

100% Optical has announced another line-up of CPD sessions in collaboration with the Association of Optometrists (AOP).

AOP member priority bookings will be available on 3 January 2024, with ABDO priority bookings live from 11 January. Sessions will then be open to all from 13 January.

Visitors who register under the ophthalmology badge will have access to ophthalmology bookings from 3 January.  Some capacity will be reserved for walk-ins on the day.

Within the show’s Future Practice Hubs, visitors can find the following areas, all providing useful workshops, discussions and peer review sessions.

The Consulting Room (sponsored by SpaMedica) will feature an array of discussion workshops with a focus on optical coherence tomography interpretation.

The Diagnostics Suite (sponsored by Newmedica) will showcase the following talking points: ‘Intraocular lens choice: weighing up the options’, ‘Effective communication: the key to unlocking excellent patient experiences and health outcomes’, and ‘The spice of life: a variety of cases from general ophthalmology’.

The Contact Lens Hub (sponsored by Alcon) will be home to many peer reviews covering astigmatism and the importance of contact lenses.

Connecting with ophthalmology

Attendees can also visit the Ophthalmology Hub to network and gain insights into intuitive topics such as driving digital transformation for glaucoma and cataract patient pathways.

On day one (sponsored by Birmingham Optical) visitors can join sessions hosted by consultant ophthalmologists, David Lockington, Andrew Walkden, Say Aun Quah and Professor Robert Scott, as they discuss their special interests such as corneal disease and cataract surgery, specifically phacoemulsification.

On day two (sponsored by Haag-Streit UK) speakers including Sunil Mamtora, ophthalmologist at Bristol Eye Hospital, will host one-hour sessions discussing innovations in slit lamp technology and simulation in ophthalmology. Other speakers such as David Sculfar, consultant optometrist from Buckinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust, will discuss ways to improve refractive outcomes through biometry.

As the sponsor of day three, Zeiss will host a series of one-hour lectures on data-driven healthcare. Each talk will explore the critical components and benefits of ‘medical ecosystems’, focusing on optimising patient pathways and streamlining workflows, going paperless and embracing virtual clinics, enhancing patient satisfaction and education, promoting standardisation, and “putting healthcare management at your fingertips”.
