Join the Trainee Treasure Trail at 100%

Dispensing optician (DO) and optometry students will be out in force at 100% Optical this weekend, taking part in the Trainee Treasure Trail. The challenge takes place over the three days of the show.

Organised by Out of the Box Optics to raise funds for Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP), the challenge enables the next generation of professionals to engage with businesses.

“This fun activity helps companies to reach a new audience and helps us raise awareness of the eyecare needs of homeless people and engage with future volunteers,” said Alison Gordon, VCHP community and corporate fundraiser.

Students can pick up a trail card from the VCHP stand, M208. They must attend each of the 10 featured stands, engaging with staff and learning about products and services.

The completed cards will be entered into a prize draw each day at 4pm. Prizes include Amazon vouchers, sunglasses, optical equipment and textbooks, plus vouchers to spend at Birmingham Optical.

“The funds and awareness raised help us to address inequalities in eyecare through our free clinics for homeless and other vulnerable people,” added Alison.

Homeless people struggle to obtain sight tests, spectacles and eyecare. VCHP provides free care to homeless and other vulnerable people through volunteer-run clinics, based in homeless day centres. Find out more at www.vchp.org.uk
