
Kelcher Optometrists was named Independent Practice of the Year
Independent practices from across the UK were recognised for outstanding patient care, innovation and community impact at the 2026 SightCare Awards last weekend.
Held at part of the SightCare Live conference, on 26 and 27 April at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, the awards saw Kelcher Optometrists named Independent Practice of the Year, recognising “an exceptional all-round performance combining clinical excellence, innovation and deep-rooted community engagement”.
Across 10 categories, practices and individuals were honoured for their commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and driving the profession forward.

• Community Practice of the Year: Eye 2 Eye Opticians
• Practice Team of the Year: The Eyeworks
• Heart of the Practice: Tanya McKinney, Eglington Eyecare
• Frame Styling Practice of the Year: Park Lane Opticians
• Environmental Practice of the Year: SG Eyecare
As part of its award, Park Lane Opticians will receive an exclusive prize package from sponsoring eyewear company Feb 31st, including a visit to the company’s headquarters and factory in the Italian Alps.
SightCare also used the event to support the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, helping to shine a spotlight on retinoblastoma through a dedicated awareness video and donation campaign. Delegates were provided with leaflets and posters to take back to their own practices, extending the reach of this vital message to communities across the UK.

Winners were presented with certificates alongside a unique handcrafted award created by West Country Blacksmiths, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship at the heart of independent practice.
