R11.1.1 5.15 Section 14 of the GOC standards of practice for optometrists and dispensing opticians states that you must maintain confidentiality and respect your patients’ privacy. To summarise, you, and any staff that you employ, must keep all data that you hold about a patient confidential. This includes information held in all forms; written, electronic and verbal. These records must be securely stored and protected.
