Job title
Dispensing optician, Telford Opticians Newtownards
Job description
Are you a passionate dispensing optician who values quality over quantity? Do you thrive in an environment where patient care is personalised and technology is the standard? At Telford Opticians, we have been providing exceptional eye care to the North Down community for nearly 30 years. We pride ourselves on being more than just a “local optician”—we are a clinical-first independent practice dedicated to style, precision, and the long-term health of our patients’ eyes.
We are looking for a registered dispensing optician to join our friendly, professional team. You will play a vital role in our patient journey, moving beyond basic “sales” to provide expert clinical dispensing and tailored style consultations.
What you’ll be doing:
• Expert Dispensing: Providing personalised advice on our curated frame collections, sourced from boutique European makers.
• ZEISS Lens Specialist: As an official ZEISS Partner, you will work with the world’s leading lens technology.
• Clinical Support: Working alongside our optometrists to support specialist clinics, including Myopia Management, Dry Eye, and Advanced OCT screenings.
• Patient Experience: Delivering the “Telford Promise”—a warm, friendly, and unhurried service that ensures every patient leaves feeling cared for.
What We Are Looking For
• Qualified & Registered: You must be a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician.
• The “Independent” Mindset: You enjoy having the time to talk to patients and the freedom to recommend the best possible optical solutions without “big-brand” constraints.
• Tech-Savvy: An interest in the latest optical technology and a desire to stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
• Styling Flair: An eye for fashion and the ability to help patients find frames that reflect their personality.
Why Join Us?
• Quality Over Targets: We focus on the quality of the dispense and patient satisfaction rather than retail targets.
• Professional Growth: Access to the latest training from ZEISS and support for your continued professional development (CPD) and across the profession.
• Community Roots: Work in a supportive, established team with a loyal patient base in a beautiful part of Northern Ireland.
• Equipment: Work with the latest diagnostic and measurement tools (including OCT and ZEISS Visufit).
