Job title
Regional optometry partner, LOCSU
Job description
LOCSU (the support unit for LOCs) is currently recruiting four regional optometry partner roles across England. Dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, as well as optometrists, are eligible to apply.
These are permanent roles which replace the current advancement lead contracts. LOCSU has said the change is intended to provide greater consistency, continuity and stronger relationship-building with LOCs and local systems. The new title also reflects the partnership role these colleagues will play with LOCs, commissioners and wider NHS stakeholders.
The role may be of interest to ABDO members who have experience of primary eye care, LOC work, commissioning, service development, regulation or local system leadership. The regional optometry partner role is described as supporting and empowering LOCs to be effective and influential leaders of primary eye care, including by strengthening governance, supporting succession planning, helping LOCs build relationships with ICBs and local NHS partners, and supporting commissioning and service development conversations.
Applicants are expected to have a working knowledge of primary eye care or NHS commissioning, and either an in-depth understanding of LOC working, optical practice or local commissioning, with awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing LOCs, optical practices and the NHS.
Further details, including how to apply, are available in the LOCSU applicant pack
Applications should be returned to info@locsu.co.uk by 12pm Tuesday 19 May.
