Consultant, Ankur Barua
Guidance on diagnosing and managing corneal contact lens complications will be provided during an upcoming webinar organised by the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA).
The session, to be held from 7pm on Tuesday 9 September, will be delivered by consultant Ankur Barua and will talk delegates through ways of identifying the common and serious issues that come with all types of contact lens wear and what to look for.
Currently working as the corneal lead at Birmingham Midland Eye Centre, Ankur said: “This webinar aims to raise awareness of the different complications which can occur from all types of contact lens use. This will cover the severity and management of highlighted cases.
“The emphasis will be on clinical acumen and clues within the history and presentation. The access to appropriate care, along with the importance of medical advice and surgical care, will be discussed.
“There will be an opportunity for interaction via polling and time for questions. As a corneal specialist, I will raise points noted from our experience in black and minority ethnic communities with seeing issues related to contact lens wear.”
Key takeaways for delegates will include advice on diagnosing different types of complications of contact lens wear and understanding the treatment pathways available to patients.
The webinar has been approved for one CPD point and is open to all.
