“Spectacular celebration” planned
Fifty years of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) will be celebrated at the Association’s flagship clinical conference and exhibition in Birmingham on 19 and 20 June 2027.
With a refreshed two-day programme, marking ‘a golden era’ for contact lenses and the anterior eye, the 2027 conference will be staged at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre.
BCLA chief executive, Brad Parkes, said: “For five decades, the BCLA clinical conference and exhibition has been at the forefront of our profession – and our 50th anniversary edition is going to be a spectacular celebration of a golden era for contact lenses and the anterior eye.
“This meeting will deliver expert-led education and patient focused clinical training, with world class speakers on all areas of contact lenses and ocular surface health. It promises to be a brilliant weekend packed with learning, networking and celebrating, inspiring eyecare professionals to make a real difference to patients’ lives and ensure we are ‘always learning’.
“We’re delighted to be staging this event in Birmingham – a modern multi-cultural city at the beating heart of Britain. We will be welcoming visitors from around the world and we look forward to them exploring our second city and the wider area.”
Five decades of leadership and innovation will be championed at the BCLA Celebrates awards evening plus other programme highlights including the BCLA Medal Address and research awards.
