CPD latest for 100% Optical 2026

Additional CPD sessions have been announced for 100% Optical 2026, alongside a new priority booking date for ABDO members.

In an update to previously provided dates, priority booking for ABDO members will now open at 10am on Monday 26 January.

With sessions then going on general release at 10am on Wednesday 28 January, this will give ABDO members a head start on booking onto relevant and popular sessions, including those running in the Dispensing Workshop.

Set to take place at London’s Excel from 28 February to 2 March 2026, the optical exhibition, co-located with 100% Ophthalmology, will once again be partnering with the Association of Optometrists (AOP) to deliver more than 100 hours of CPD-accredited sessions.

The Dispensing Workshop will include two ABDO-curated peer review sessions:

  • ‘Are you up to the challenge? – with Max Halford, ABDO clinical and policy director
  • Spectacles or contact lenses? You decide: the myopia management edit’ – with ABDO president, Kevin Gutsell, and ABDO head of qualifications, Dean Dunning

The following sessions will also be offered in the Dispensing Workshop:

  • ‘Prescribing trends in myopia management’ – with Dr Yasmin Whayeb, Aston University research optometrist
  • ‘Beyond the test room: real stories, real careers’ – with Dr Lindsay Rountree, assistant professor, University of Bradford
  • ‘Accessible communication and the art of effective symptoms and history taking’ – with Dr Louise Gow, RNIB head of eye health, optometry and low vision, and Preeti Singla, RNIB optometry and low vision engagement manager

Other sessions to highlight that may be of interest to ABDO members include:

  • ‘The Special Schools Eyecare Service’ – with Malvi Patel, SeeAbility clinical lead optometrist, and Martyn Howlett, SeeAbility senior dispensing optician (Optical Academy)
  • ‘A focus on mental wellbeing: practical strategies for optical professionals’ – with Neil Retallic, Specsavers head of optometry development (Optical Academy)

Dr Ian Beasley, AOP head of education, said: “We’re excited to announce the next wave of CPD sessions, which feature a strong line-up of industry experts and forward-thinking topics. Each year the programme strives to create an agenda that reflects the evolving needs and trends of the industry; the 2026 show promises to deliver valuable insights and inspiration for every optical professional.”

The final phase of CPD education will be announced in December.
