GOC responds to OPG petition

The General Optical Council (GOC) has today issued a statement in response to a petition started by the Ophthalmic Practitioners Group, calling for “a vote of no confidence in the GOC’s ability to protect the public”.

In its statement, the GOC explains its role during the pandemic, how it has engaged with stakeholders to draft its Covid-19 statements, and why it has continued with the latest consultation on its Education Strategic Review (ESR).

It concludes: “We acknowledge that the petition calls upon the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) to investigate allegations and we will provide further information on the matter as required. We would always encourage those who have concerns, to raise these directly with us.”
