From time-to-time, members need advice with legal matters or support and representation at General Optical Council (GOC) Fitness to Practise (FtP) hearings.
To support this, ABDO purchases legal expenses insurance on behalf of all members – at no additional cost to the individual.
“A legal dispute can come out of nowhere and the costs in defending or pursuing legal action can build up quickly,” says Ed Fox, head of membership services.
“The legal expenses helplines will give members specialist advice free of charge and, if necessary, members may be able to make a claim under ABDO’s membership policy.”
ABDO legal expenses insurance will provide cover for: GOC complaints and FtP representation; employment disputes; legal defence; UK legal and tax advice helpline; FtP helpline; counselling helpline.
