All qualified General Optical Council (GOC) registrants are required to maintain professional indemnity insurance (PII) in accordance with GOC regulations.
“This requirement ensures that practitioners are protected should an error occur, or a patient be unintentionally harmed in practice,” explains ABDO head of membership, Ed Fox.
“PII provides an essential safety net, offering reassurance that support is available when it is most needed.
“Knowing that expert legal assistance and financial protection are in place allows practitioners to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
“In the rare event that something does go wrong, the insurance provides a structured, reliable framework for managing the situation, helping members navigate what can otherwise be a challenging and emotionally demanding experience,” added Ed.
