Event promises to inspire career progression across all sectors
Registration is now open for the annual Specsavers Professional Advancement Conference (PAC), taking place at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre (ICC) on Sunday 14 September.
Featuring a full CPD programme for community optometrists and dispensing opticians, speakers include Professor Kathryn Saunders and Dr Byki Huntjens on evidence-based myopia management, Dr Catherine Porter and Dr Ketan Parmar on binocular vision and paediatric eyecare, and ophthalmologists Ahmed Bardan, James Young and Richard Stead on managing ocular pathology in practice.
Neil Retallic, head of professional development at Specsavers, commented: “It promises to be a fantastic day of world-class, interactive CPD that will develop your professional skills, enhance your patient care and inspire your career progression. It is open to all optics clinicians, wherever you work.
“This year, we are looking forward to providing a multi-track programme of expert speakers, peer discussion and reviews, practical workshops covering CPD and development needs of delegates. Plus, there will be exhibition spaces of product and equipment suppliers, professional bodies and academic institutions.
“We’re again expecting 2,000 attendees for what will be the 31st Specsavers PAC. We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning delegates and the buzz of the day,” Neil added.
Other programme highlights include:
• Diverse session formats: including peer review and hands-on workshops
• Interactive CPD across all CPD learning domains: including for contact lens opticians (CLOs) and therapeutic specialties
• WOPEC assessments: complete minor eye conditions services and glaucoma certification onsite
• Trainee-dedicated track: tailored for pre-registration optometrists and trainee CLO students
• Networking opportunities: connect with peers and explore the exhibition featuring suppliers, professional bodies, and academic institutions from across the sector
As well as providing CPD for the community optics sector, the event covers CPD for community audiology.
Representatives from ABDO will also be at the event to meet with members and non-members alike.
