Raising funds for Vision Care
A group of optical professionals stepped out for charity recently, walking through the night in London to support eyecare for homeless people.
The 22-strong Vision Care team was made up of clinic volunteers, trustees, staff and friends, plus six people from Mondottica Group and three from Théa Pharmaceuticals. The event raised over £9,000 to help fund free eyecare.
Optometrist Prashant Shah, who volunteers at the charity’s clinic in the capital, said: “It was inspiring to take part in an event organised by the London Homeless Collective and to see so many people coming together to support important causes.
“Walking through London at night was also a powerful reminder of the reality many people face every day, with far too many forced to sleep rough and live without a safe place to call home.”
Grace Downes, head of marketing at Mondottica, said: “Taking part in the London Walk was a powerful and reflective experience for our team, highlighting the realities faced by those without a safe place to call home.
“We are proud to support Vision Care’s vital mission to tackle inequalities in eyecare and provide free eye tests and glasses for people affected by homelessness.”
Raj Gajjar, Théa Pharmaceuticals’ medical area sales manager, said: “I wanted to share what a meaningful experience it was to take part in the 10K London Night Walk along with my colleagues Jet and Olivia to support homeless people.
“Participating in this walk has been both humbling and motivating, and I am grateful to have had the chance to contribute alongside my colleagues.”
