ABDO issues new range of patient leaflets

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has issued a new range of leaflets for practitioners to offer to patients.

The leaflets have been developed by members of the association’s National Clinical Committee (NCC) in response to a survey of members. The titles in this first series include:

•            Food and eye health

•            Looking after your child’s eyes

•            Looking after your eyes

•            Your eyes in your 40s

•            Low vision

ABDO Vice President Jo Holmes, who is chair of the NCC says, “Providing good information for patients on a range of topics is vital and we hope that this new series of bright and colourful leaflets provide clear simple advice in an easy to read format. We are delighted with how many members have requested leaflets to keep in practice and who have downloaded copies of the information for patients since the leaflets were released.”

The leaflet topics have been chosen to fill gaps in current information available and provide useful information for patients of all ages. The leaflets have been designed to be part of ABDO’s successful and longstanding EyecareFAQ public education campaign which up until now has focused on online information. The wording in each leaflet has been carefully edited to ensure that it can be read by people of a range of ages and reading abilities, and is in a font size accessible to the majority of people.

Leaflets are available to members to download and print off in practice, or can be ordered to keep in stock, via the ‘Member Benefits’ section of the new ABDO website.
