Press release: ABDO launches annual plan for 2024

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has launched its new annual plan, which will guide its work over the coming year on behalf of members.

The plan, which can be found at www.abdo.org.uk, involves a wide range of activities to enable ABDO to support and represent members, promote awareness of their roles, enable their professional development and advance the profession as a whole. It incorporates a new purpose, vision and values for the organisation.

The Association has three priorities for 2024, in line with its vision and values:

  1. introducing the FBDO apprenticeship following approval of the apprenticeship standard
  2. launching a new professional certificate in paediatric eyecare
  3. providing an excellent service for members, now and into the future

ABDO president Daryl Newsome says, “ABDO is going from strength to strength with its clearly defined purpose of advancing the profession, promoting awareness of our members roles, enabling members to develop their roles if they so wish, supporting and representing members all to the benefit of our patients and the wider public.

Having a 5 year strategic plan and an annual defined plan we are making steady, transparent and quantifiable progress to making your Association stronger, more useful and more influential than ever before.”
