As a former dispensing optician and contact lens optician, I understand that working in practice is hugely rewarding and challenging at the same time. During my own career as a practitioner I was involved in hospital eyecare, high street eyecare and domiciliary eyecare. My own company Eyesite, started with a single branch and grew to a six strong independent partnership, with 70 staff and a reputation of being a leading independent optical company. Being partner and CEO of that company meant learning about the business of optics, hence I completed a degree in marketing and an MBA in Business. Our philosophy was to grow the business through our people, giving our optometrists, dispensing opticians and support staff the training and coaching to thrive. One of our key successes was that several of our people found the confidence to go and set up their own independent practices. My experience of managing such a significant size business over 35 years, means that I have experience most of the challenges that can materialise.

Since exiting that business 3 years ago, I have been coaching independent practice owners and their teams to build and develop their own people and their own businesses. My approach is to work with my clients, to challenge their thinking, offer advice and guidance where appropriate and connect them with other like minded professionals to share experiences in a unique peer to peer business environment.

How can I help you?

Coaching can take many forms and can mean different things to different people. Below are some examples of the types of people I have worked with either in a one off session or a regular series of sessions.

  • Practice owners planning an exit strategy to sell or pass on their business.

My skill set lies in helping others to be the best version of themselves, discover new opportunities, resolve issues and challenges and help my clients gain clarity and purpose in their business and professional lives.
