Have your say on the GOC’s Standards for optical businesses

The General Optical Council (GOC) have commissioned Pye Tait Consulting to support their consultation process to obtain feedback on the new draft Standards for optical businesses.

This draft follows on from and complements the Standards for optometrists and dispensing opticians and Standards for optical students which were published, following a similar consultation process, in 2016.

As part of this latest consultation process, the GOC is keen to hear from practising professionals and business owners. One way in which we would like to hear from you is through five focus groups. These will be facilitated by Pye Tait. These focus groups will run on the following dates:

  • Birmingham – 10am, Thursday 2nd August
  • Bristol – 10am, Friday 3rd August
  • Edinburgh – 10am, Tuesday 7th August
  • Leeds – 10am, Thursday 9th August
  • London – 10am, Tuesday 14th August

We are also undertaking phone calls with optical professionals and business owners to gather opinions and feedback that way too.

If you are interested in being involved with the consultation process via a phone call (arranged to be at a time convenient to you) and / or by participating in a focus group, please register your interest here: www.pyetait.com/GOC_consultation_signup

We would like to work closely with professionals and business owners to ensure you are as involved as possible in this consultation process, and that your feedback plays a central role in shaping this document.
