Louis Stone Optical closes

Paul and Judith Gaba are retiring as directors of Louis Stone and closing the company

Judith and Paul Gaba are retiring after 42 years running Louis Stone Optical.

They grew the company into an international distributor of spectacles, cases and instruments to opticians, optometrists, hospitals and universities. The Cardiff-based business was a major distributor for Oculus, Volk and Ishihara. It was run by the husband and wife team while daughter Clare was head of marketing and communications.

Clare grew Louis Stone’s Instagram following to 17,000 – the most followers of any distributor in the UK. The firm won the LuxLife 2019 Customer Service award and was a finalist in the Optician Awards 2018. Clare plans to work as a freelance marketing consultant as well as food and hospitality influencer @welshclarebit on Instagram.

Louis Stone will take final orders up until 5pm on Monday 11 December. The company wants to thank all their loyal customers for their support over the last 73 years.
