Nick Walsh is now ABDO head of corporate development.
A qualified dispensing optician, Nick joined ABDO in November 2016 as sector skills development officer. Prior to this, he was head of ophthalmic lenses and dispensing (UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain) at Specsavers.
Nick said: “Since joining ABDO, the role has expanded to cover more business and corporate areas. We have seen the creation of the Business Support Hub, eMentoring platform, Management and Leadership training courses, a more impactful presence at trade shows and more direct contact with employers and suppliers. It made sense that the role officially change to that of head of corporate development.
“I look forward to continuing the work already in place with a view to expansions – as well as working on new initiatives on behalf of ABDO,” Nick added.
ABDO general secretary, Tony Garrett, said: “Nick’s new title more accurately reflects his expanded role within the organisation, and his work with the optical sector’s business and management community. Nick will continue to lead on ABDO’s corporate development to the benefit of our members, and the wider optical sector.”
